Richard was a founding member and lead guitarist with The Snakes. In the late 80s and 90s Richard was a member of Band of Gypsies (along with Simon, Dan & Pete), boosting sales of hair products and eyeliner to new heights. He later joined the popular Camden based band Tiny Monroe, who released records in the late 90s and toured with The Pretenders. Richard left The Snakes in 2014, playing occasional gigs on the Wiltshire blues circuit as well as joining Pete Smart's tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival : Creedence Clearwater Revival Revival.

In 2020, Richard released his debut solo album, with help from Nick Beere, Tim Emery on bass & Chris Jones on drums, collectively known as The Dissidents. The album, "Human Traffic" by Richard Davies and the Dissidents is available on Bucketfull of Brains (you can order it from our News page!)

As well as all this, as of 2019 Richard has also returned to The Snakes!
